Mirror Mounts

Mirror mounts provide a means to adjust the angle of a mirror on two axis: the pitch axis (up and down) and the yaw axis (side to side).  They are available in many sizes to hold mirrors ranging in diameter from 12.7 to 300mm.  The most widely used, cost-effective, and stable of the mirror mounts is the kinematic type.  Its design is fairly simple providing constraints in each of the six degrees of freedom just once, ensuring excellent stability in temperature varying environments.  Gimbal mounts are another type commonly used mount which provides an exceptionally angular adjustment range as well as the ability to minimize adjustment cross talk. Mirror mounts are used in almost all optical applications primarily for beam routing, or in other words, getting the optical beam of light from the source to the point of interest.  Industries that utilize these mounts include research, bio-medical, life sciences, astronomy, metrology, semiconductor, and more.   If one of our many catalog mirror mounts does not meet your requirements, just send us a request for a custom version.

  • Standard-Grade Kinematic Mirror Mounts

    Description

    Standard Grade Kinematic Mirror Mounts are low-cost mirror mounts intended for general purpose use such as teaching labs and less demanding applications such as imaging or remote sensing.  You will find a selection of mounts to hold ½”, 1”, 30mm and 2” mirrors.  Despite the super low cost, these mounts are high quality and yield solid performance.  Need something similar?  Ask our sales team about modifying to meet your requirements.

  • Performance-Grade Kinematic Mirror Mounts

    Description

    Performance Grade Mirror Mounts are kinematic mounts that provide a higher level of stability and fine adjustments for more demanding applications.  We have (2) families of mounts in this section.  The “Kinematic Mirror Holders” have “MP” series that are 2-point adjustment with resistance locks and the “HS” series are 3-point adjustment with larger diameter knobs to enable more fine positioning.  The other family are virtually the same mix of mounts that incorporate our patented NOMI LOCKTM mechanisms.  The NOMI LOCKTM are highly effective non-influential locks.  The bushing can be rotated in either direction to lock the screw(s) in place.  

  • Precision-Grade Stainless Steel Mirror Mounts

    Description
    Precision Grade Stainless Steel Mirror Mounts are intended for applications where the highest level of stability is required.  Applications such as interferometry and laser cavity systems often fall in this category.  In this section, you will find a variety of mounts such as “C-Shape” for close-proximity and open architecture, in addition to mounts that are designed, manufactured, and packaged for use in high vacuum applications.  Finally, our new flagship mounts, the MHX, available in many sizes and highly unique in their features, such as center post mounting, epoxy wells and hollow frame design yielding high stability and low thermal drift.  If you are looking to automate any of these mounts, please contact our sales team to discuss integrating motorized actuators.

    Description

    OptoSigma's Silent Ultrasonic Motor Mirror Mounts incorporate two ultrasonic motors which rotate an adjustment screw by using ultrasonic waves with high frequencies more than 20,000Hz which a human cannot hear. The ultrasonic motor generates ultrasonic waves using piezoelectric elements.

  • Vacuum Compatible Mirror Mounts

    Description

    Our vacuum-compatible stainless steel mirror mounts are made for use in 1E-6 Torr vacuum or clean room environments and are available in 12.7- to 50.8 mm diameter sizes. They are driven by a special vacuum compatible adjustment screws which yield 5 deg. angular range.    OptoSigma vacuum compatible mirror mounts have vented attachment holes and are lubricated with a high-grade vacuum grease (YVAC2).  If one of our many vacuum compatible catalog mounts does not meet your requirements, just send us a request for a custom version.

    Description

    Our Mirror Mount adapters provide a multitude of additional functions and capabilities for our mirror mounts.  There are mounting adapters which allow you to flip the mirror mount out of the beam path as well as other adaptors for center-post mounting and direct table top mounting.  Also included in the selection of adapters are optic adaptors which allow you to mount different types of optics into a mirror mount, such as square mirrors, prisms and beam splitters.  There are also size adapters which allow you to mount different sized mirrors (usually smaller ones) into you mount.  As with all of our products,    If one of our many catalog adapters does not meet your requirements, send us a request for a custom version.

True Gimbal Mounts

Gimbal mounts have axes of rotation (pitch and yaw) which intersect at the center of the surface plane of the optic so that the beam length will not change during adjustment. True gimbal mounts always have rotation axes that are true (parallel and orthogonal) to the mounting surface. This configuration eliminates cross talk between the adjustments.
