Windows Substrates

Windows at their simplest are glass substrates with two highly parallel polished faces. Windows are used in a wide variety of applications and optical components and their main purposes are for transmitting light and for protection. Our catalog windows can be circular, square or rectangular in shape and come standard with various options for surface flatness, parallelism, wedge, and coating. Windows can also be used as the substrate for dielectric mirrors, beamsplitters, and dichroic filters and can also be used in interferometry as a reference flat or a compensator plate.   • Flat Substrates

    Description

    OptoSigma has almost an endless variety of optical flats in various sizes, materials, and precisions. Our highest precision are optical flats for interfermotry that are λ/40 P-V straight out of our catalog. With hundreds of choices, we believe you can find the optical flat to meet your needs. However, as always, ask us for a custom solution if you cannot find a solution to meet all of your requirements.

  • Concave Substrates

    Description

    OptoSigma's concave or focusing mirror subrates are available in a varity of sizes and radii. We are more than willing to apply an optical coating of your choice based upon your requirments. Typically, concave or "Focus" mirrors are utilized for light collection or imaging appliations. All of these substrates have a fine ground back surface. If your application requires any light transmissions, we suggest to utilize our concave lenes.

  • UV and IR Windows

    Description

    OptoSigma manufactures a variety of optical windows for UV and IR applications. For the UV, we have a group of Calcium Fluoride, CaF2, windows and for IR applications, we offer a group of Germanium, Silicon, Sapphire, or Zinc Selenide (ZnSe), depending on the region of use.

  • Coated Windows

    Description

    OptoSigma manufactures a variety of optical windows, or parralels with anti-reflective optical coatings that can be utilized for a large variety of applications. There are surface flatness up to λ/10 P-V with <5 Arc Second Paralellism and with a large variety and choice of optical coatings. If you cannot find a standard product that meets your needs, ask us to manufacture a custom solution to meet all of your requirements.

  • Wedged Substrates

    Description

    Wedged substrates can separate the reflected beams from the front and back surfaces by having an angled wedge on the second surface. They can be used as a reference test plate for interferometers and as beam samplers, enabling to “Pick Off” a portion of the beam for detectors. Wedged substrates are not coated on both sides. Keep in mind there is a 3.5 to 4% reflection of the bare glass surfaces. If the wedged substrate is inserted in the optical path of the laser beam, the transmitted beam is inclined slightly, causing the refraction. It is also available beam sampler (BS4) coated with anti-reflection coating on the back. Other coating options are available so please contact us for more information.
