About OptoSigma

OptoSigma is a leading provider of optical components, opto-mechanics, systems, and solutions for research, development, and manufacturing applications. We specialize in providing high-quality products to various industries, including semiconductors, aerospace, defense, and more. We are committed to excellence, innovation, and customer satisfaction.

Our teams design and build everything from single optical elements to complex multi-element assemblies and systems, working alongside in-house optical, mechanical, systems, electrical, and software engineers. Precision, quality, and hands-on craftsmanship are central to how we work.

About the Role

We're seeking an entry-level Quality Assurance team member to support quality activities across our precision manufacturing operations. This is a great opportunity for someone in their early career to build a strong foundation in inspection, documentation, and process control within a precision manufacturing environment. We're looking for someone who likes solving problems, improving products and designs. Ideal candidates are energetic and eager to jump into a wide variety of projects, bringing enthusiasm to solving new problems as they come up.

What You'll Do

  • Support development and maintenance of quality documentation, including inspection plans, work instructions, and non-conformance reports.
  • Assist with root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) investigations for quality issues.
  • Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspection of components and assemblies using standard measurement tools.
  • Support internal audits and help maintain compliance with quality system requirements.
  • Track and report quality metrics (yield, scrap, defect trends) to help identify improvement opportunities.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing and engineering teams to resolve quality issues.
  • Help maintain calibration records for inspection and measurement equipment.
  • Support customer complaint investigations and process RMAs (Return Merchandise Authorizations) as needed.

What We're Looking For

  • Entry-level experience with quality, inspection, or a related hands-on manufacturing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and comfort working with precise measurements and documentation.
  • Basic familiarity with measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) or eagerness to learn.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and basic Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T), or willingness to learn.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
  • Some familiarity with ISO 9001 or a similar quality management system.

Nice to Have (Not Required)

  • Engineering or Physics degree and/or strong hands-on technical experience working with optics and/or small parts.
  • Coursework or experience in statistics, Statistical Process Control (SPC), or quality tools.
  • Experience or interest in optics, photonics, or precision manufacturing.
