OptoSigma is proud to offer Precision optics for use in medical, industrial, aerospace, defense, life sciences, and consumer applications.  We manufacture spherical, aspherical, achromatic (also known as achromats), and other types of optical elements as well as provide over 100 various optical coatings for our catalog optics and custom optics.  OptoSigma also offers microscope objectives for UV, visible, and IR applications.  If you are looking for optical filters, polarizers, waveplates, beamsplitters, prisms , optical  flats, and uncoated substrates, we offer those as well.  If you require semi-custom or custom optics, please contact us for those as well.

  • Mirrors

    Description

    Optical Mirrors are designed to reflect incident light for laser and imaging applications such as beam steering, interferometry, illumination, and more.  Industries that utilize Optical Mirrors are bio-medical, life sciences, astronomy, metrology, semiconductor, and more.  OptoSigma offers a broad selection of optical mirrors to meet virtually any application.  Some examples are, Super Mirrors, or, low PPM mirrors, Spherical Mirrors, Femtosecond Laser Mirrors, also known as Low or Negative Dispersion Mirrors, Dielectric Mirrors, Metalic Mirrors, and Laser Line Mirrors.  If one of our hundreds of catalog mirrors do not meet your requirements, send us a request for a custom mirror. 

      
  • Prisms

    Description

    Prisms are optical components that are used to direct light at a specified angle and can also be used to separate white light into its consituent colors through refraction.  The simplest prisms have light propagate through them with no reflections (only refraction) while more complex prisms utilize multiple internal reflections to achieve their purpose. Properties of light such as retardation can be controlled and manipulated through clever design of internal beam path.  OptoSigma offers a wide variety of prisms including Equilaterial, Right Angle, Right Angle (Coated), Penta Prisms, Corner Cube, Hollow Retro-Reflectors, Light Pipe, Dove Prisms, Pellin Broca, and Knife Edge.  If none of our many catalog prisms meet your requirements please send us a request for a custom prism.

  • Beamsplitters

    Description

    A beam splitter or beamsplitter is an optical component that is used for splitting an incident light beam in two directions. Beamsplitters are used to separate the light by a ratio of power between transmitted and reflected beams but can also be used to separate polarization states or different wavelenths of light. There are two main types of beamsplitters, plate beamsplitter and cube beamsplitter and each has their own advantages. Some industries that use beamsplitters are interferometry, bio-medical, metrology, life sciences, microscopy, fiber optics, telecommunication, and quantum communication. OptoSigma offers a broad selection of plate and cube beamsplitters to meet virtually any application. Some examples include Thin Plate Beamsplitters, Dielectric Plate & Cube Beamsplitters, High Power Polarizing Beamsplitters, Broadband Polarizing Beamsplitters, Plate Polarizing Beamsplitter and Variable Beamsplitters.   • Lenses

    Description

    Lenses are used to focus or disperse light through use of curved surfaces of a specific medium.  Typically lenses are made of glass but they can also be made other transparent materials like plastic or crystalline materials.  The first lenses were simple magnifying glasses that were used to read small text and through trial and error evolved into a primitive version of the reading glasses many of use today.  Applications for lenses are exceptionally diverse but the most common uses today are for Microscopy, Laser Machining, Sensing, Machine Vision, Satellite Imaging and Astronomy.  Some of the most common types include spherical lenses, aspherical lenses, achromatic lenses, cylindrical lenses, Fly-Eye lens, and anamorphic lenses.  If our extensive selection of catalog lenses do not meed your needs, please send us a request for a custom lens made to your specifications.

  • Filters

    Description

    An optical filter is an optical component that is used to transmit or reflect a specific range of wavelengths or a specific proportion of the incident light. It can be identified as a colour. The transmission of the light is considered as absorbed or cut. They are also applied as an absorbtion of light, use to pass long wavelengths only (longpass), short wavelengths only (shortpass), or a band of wavelengths, blocking both longer and shorter wavelengths (bandpass). Some of the most current and prominent applications that use filters are flow cytometry, Raman spectroscopy, fluorescence microscopy, LiDAR, imaging, astronomy, and various laser applications.

  • Laser Crystals

    Description

    Laser Crystals are materials that are doped with specific elements or molecules and are used as the gain media for solid-state lasers.  The doped materials in the laser crystals enable amplification of the laser wavelength by stimulated emission through absorption of the energy inputted from optical pumping.  Some of the most common types of laser crystals are Nd:YAG, Yb:KGW, Yb:KYW, Nd:KGW, Ti:Sapphire, Er:YAG, among many others.  Please contact us with your requirements for custom laser crystals.

  • Windows Substrates

    Description

    Windows at their simplest are glass substrates with two highly parallel polished faces. Windows are used in a wide variety of applications and optical components and their main purposes are for transmitting light and for protection. Our catalog windows can be circular, square or rectangular in shape and come standard with various options for surface flatness, parallelism, wedge, and coating. Windows can also be used as the substrate for dielectric mirrors, beamsplitters, and dichroic filters and can also be used in interferometry as a reference flat or a compensator plate. Please contact our sales team with your requirements for a customized window if none of our many off-the-shelf options are suitable for your application.

  • Objectives

    Description

    Objectives are the business end of microscopes, but they have also found uses in many other applications like high power lasers, as well as UV and IR applications.  OptoSigma objectives come in 5x to 100x magnifications and can also be provided with cover glass compensation which can be modified to correct spherical aberration for looking into samples of various indices of refraction.  We also offer long working distance objectives and if chromatic aberration correction is required, OptoSigma also offers reflective objectives optimized for broadband use.  Our standard objectives are infinity corrected Completely custom objectives are possible, just ask.
