The 12.7-mm (0.5-in.) Top-Adjust MHX-T series mirror mounts are all-stainless steel and feature adjustments that are conveniently accessible from the top of the mount. They are designed with a hollow frame that not only provides a higher moment of inertia to maximize stiffness but also thinner, reduced-mass sections, allowing it to reach thermal equilibrium faster than traditionally designed mounts. The hollow frame also serves to protect the front plate from being knocked from its kinematic points. Thermal repeatability tests validate the effectiveness of the new frame design, showing lower deflection and equivalent repeatability against rival mounts. The MHX mount is loaded with additional features like center-post mounting, adhesive wells, and vented keying pin slots, all in the most compact and affordable stainless steel mount. Locks are available but sold separately. Please note: This mount uses a special (Nissan) small head-diameter caphead screw for mounting and therefore, standard 8-32 and M4 screws won't work. Special, small head-diameter screws (8-32 and M4) are included with the mount.
In addition to the standard rear-mounted post mounting holes, this mount also includes center-point mounting holes. These holes are positioned so that the rotation axis of the post passes directly through the mirror's reflective plane. As a result, the optical beam stays centered on the mirror's surface even when the mount is rotated. In contrast, using only the rear-mounted post holes moves the reflective surface off the optical axis during rotation. To address this, two forward-positioned, center-point mounting holes are provided: the front hole is threaded M4, and the adjacent one is threaded 8-32. Use the M4 center-point hole when mounting the mirror in the forward orientation, and the 8-32 hole when mounting it in the rear-facing orientation. Each side of the mount includes two sets of these holes, giving a total of six mounting points. The rear-mounted post hole is unthreaded and accepts either M4 or 8-32 caphead screws.

| Achtung | This mount uses a special small-head diameter screw for mounting. The 6 mm counterbore is sized for a 5.5 mm head diameter socket head cap screw. An 8-32 and an M4 screw of this type are included with the mount. Standard 8-32 and an M4 socket head cap screws will not fit the counterbore. Screw-on knobs are not available for this mount, however locks are available. |
