Aspheric Lenses
-
Very high numerical apertures for effective energy collection and condensing
-
Aspheric surfaces are molded, then polished
-
Very attractive prices for demanding applications
-
Made from high quality optical crown glass
These lenses are ideally suited to condensing and light collection applications. For these purposes it is necessary to locate the optic as close as possible to the source or detector in order to benefit from a large numerical aperture collection cone. These aspheric lenses are flat or convex spherical on one side and have a steep aspheric on the other side.
The lenses are molded and polished from high quality crown optical glass. Coating is not recommended since coatings work poorly on steep aspherics as the angle of incidence is widely variable across the diameter of the lens.
BK-7 Biconcave Lenses
-
Symmetrically concave negative lenses
-
Focal lengths from -9.7 to -299.5mm
-
Diameters from 10.0 to 50.8mm
-
Complete range of optional Anti-Reflection coatings available
-
For additional sizes see Micro Optics
These biconcave lenses are used when a very high negative power is required. They can be used in a multi-element system or alone to produce a diverging cone or a virtual image.
Sharp edges, which are common in negative lenses, are removed by beveling to reduce the likelihood of chipping.
BK7 lenses are offered uncoated or with our A55 broadband visible (425-675nm) Anti-Reflection coating. In addition, a wide range of standard Anti-Reflection coatings for other wavelengths are available for these lenses.
BK-7 Biconvex Lenses
-
Symmetrically convex positive lenses
-
Focal lengths from 6.4 to 300mm
-
Diameters from 5 to 100mm
-
Anti-Reflection coatings available
-
For additional sizes see Micro Optics
Symmetrical biconvex lenses are most useful when dealing with finite conjugate points. This makes them ideal for 1:1 imaging applications or for use in multi-element systems.
BK-7 Plano Concave Lenses
-
Simple general use negative lenses
-
Focal lengths from -15 to -200mm
-
Diameters from 10.0 to 50.8mm
-
Optional Anti-Reflection coatings available
-
For additional sizes see Micro Optics
These simple negative lenses have many uses. Alone they form a virtual image of a distant object or collimated light source. Used in combination with other optics they reduce the power of the system. Sharp edges, which are common in negative lenses, are removed by beveling in order to reduce the likelihood of chipping. BK7 lenses are offered uncoated or with our A55 broadband visible (425-675nm) Anti-Reflection coating. In addition, a wide range of standard Anti-Reflection coatings for other wavelengths are available upon request.
BK-7 Plano Convex Lenses
-
Simple general use positive lenses
-
Focal lengths from 8.0 to 5000mm
-
Anti-Reflection coatings available
-
Diameters from 5.0 to 100mm
-

These are simple lenses having a flat surface on one side and a spherical surface on the other. They are also very close to the form which minimizes spherical aberration for infinite conjugate applications.
Our glass lenses are made from the highest grade of BK7 optical glass. We have a vast range of different diameters and focal lengths. The lenses listed here are standards. Please call if you do not see the lens you need. We have both larger and smaller lenses and many other diameters to choose from. However, we do try to keep these standards available for quick delivery. For very small lenses see the section on microlenses.
These lenses are offered uncoated or with our A55 broadband visible (425-675nm) multilayer Anti-Reflection coating. In addition we offer a wide range of standard Anti-Reflection coatings for other wavelengths.
