The following tools, tool kits and screw sets will be found useful accessories to your optical laboratory or production area.

Ball drivers are much more convenient than Allen keys for the tightening and removal of hex head capscrews. We offer ball drivers for commonly used optical mounting screws individually or in sets. Individual balldrivers may be purchased for use with 6/32, 8/32, M4, 1/4-20 or M6 screws.

The inch ball driver set includes 5/64, 3/32,7/64, 1/8, 9/64, 5/32 and 3/16 wrenches. The metric ball driver set includes 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5mm wrenches. And the Mini-System screw & toolkit has those tools needed for use with our Mini-System.

Even though screws are provided with all our products, we know the time will come when you cannot find the right screw. Our M2, 6/32, 8/32, M4, 1/4-20 and M6 screw sets include a selection of the most commonly used screws so that you will always have a replacement close at hand. Each set is complete with various length screws, studs washers and hex nuts.

Angle Brackets & Adapter Plates

Angle Brackets & Adapter Plates

Right-angle brackets are useful for bolting two stages together. These brackets are manufactured from cast aluminum or brass and precision machined to ensure the orthogonal alignment of stages or other items bolted to their mounting faces.

Differential Screw Adjusters

Differential Screw Adjusters

  • Coarse and fine drivers combined
  • Sensitivity = 1micron
  • Available with 4.5 to 23.5mm travel
  • Two types - mirror adjusters or micrometer replacements

These co-linear differential adjustment screws combine the ability to translate over long distances with the precision of a differential thread for fine motion. An outer ring controls the coarse motion and is uncalibrated while an inner thimble operates the differential driver. The thimble is marked around its circumference with divisions equivalent to 1micron of travel. The differential driver can be operated at any point of the coarse motion.

Three lengths of travel, 4.5, 7 and 10mm, are offered for use as mirror adjusters. These are fitted with an M14 thread for direct attachment to mirror mounts. Two lengths of travel, 7 and 23.5mm, are offered as micrometer replacements. These are fitted with an M10 thread which will take the place of most micrometer fittings.

Fine Pitch Screw Adjusters

Fine Pitch Screw Adjusters

  • Easy micrometer replacement for improved positioning resolution
  • Available with 0.25mm pitch threads
  • Hex key adjustment
  • Lockable
  • Adjustment knob provided

These fine pitch screws are offered for use in place of micrometers. For applications demanding screw adjustment by hex key, M6-P0.25 and M4-P0.25 pitch screws are offered with hex heads. These precision screw adjusters are turned from high grade stainless steel and are supplied with a matching brass nut designed to fit OptoSigma stages and mirror mounts. The M6-P0.25 screws are designed to drive OptoSigma’s 40mm and 65mm stages. For small positioning applications the M4-P0.25 screws are designed for use with 25mm stages. These fine pitch screw adjusters are lockable by means of a conveniently located set screw.

Mini-System Kit

Mini-System Kit

  • Pre-selected mini-system kits
  • With and without rails
  • Supplied in a convenient carrying case

This system facilitates close stacking of components and the building of small scale optical systems assemblies. Holders are offered for 10mm and 15mm optics since these sizes lend themselves most effectively to diode and fiber systems. A system of mounts and rails permits the movement of components relative to each other.

The standard system is based on a metric hole pattern of M2 threaded holes on 10mm centers. This system provides for closer spacing than is possible with inch based systems. Metric screws, tools and adapters are offered here for use with the system.

The baseplates have a pattern of M2 holes but they also contain large clearance holes for mounting onto conventional larger scale inch or metric opto-mechanical systems. These mounting holes are clearance counter-bored for a 1/4-20 or M6 cap screw.

The mini-system is usually assembled on a baseplate of appropriate size. We offer a standard range of mini-baseplates which are suitable for most applications. The mounts can be assembled directly onto the mini-baseplate or by means of an optical mini-rail system. The mini-rails permit variations in the spacing of components for coarse adjustment. Component holders are mounted either directly on the mini-rail carriers or on mini-posts. Mini-stages or mini-preset stages (described on pages 298 and 349) can be interspersed in order to provide precise mechanical positioning. The entire system is based on a 30mm center height which can be increased in 10mm increments. Spacers of 5, 10 or 15mm thickness can be supplied in order to maintain the correct center height. This compensation may be necessary, for example, when some components are missing.

You will find that this mini-system provides all the mechanical adjustment capabilities you require in a simple and compact system. The unique design permits easy access to the components without a complicated set of supports.

We offer these mini-system kits in order to simplify the selection of components. Each kit has a complete range of minisystem products ready for use. One kit has only base mounted components while the other has both bases and rails. Both are supplied in a convenient carrying case with cut-out foam to hold the items in place.

If you wish to specify your own components or add to the kit, you can select individual items from the pages referenced in the table below. The carrying case is also offered separately if you wish to make up your own kit.
